It’s time for the third blog in our series on SEO! In this section, we will cover how having blogs on your website can help to boost your website’s SEO, so it shows up more on Google searches. If you missed our first two blogs in the series, don’t worry – you can check them out HERE

Now, back to blogs…

In short, the answer is ‘Yes’! Blogs certainly do help with SEO, and here is how:
They keep people on your website longer (Google loves this)
They keep your website fresh and current (Google loves this too)
They give you the opportunity to add internal links (and this!)
They allow you to give your audience an insight into your business and YOU
Referring to your blogs on social media and therefore linking back to the website can also create a great opportunity for generating traffic.

Of our clients who blog regularly, their blog is nearly always in the top 3 most visited pages!

What Next?

Taking this information into account, you may be saying to yourself “I’d like to add a blog to my website, but I just don’t know where to start”, or perhaps “I don’t have the time to do a blog”. These thoughts are completely normal, but don’t let that stop you.

Here are 5 things that will help:
Create a list of topics that you’d like to tell people more about. This could be related to your business’s industry, something that you feel passionate about, or maybe some advice about the current situation and changes in society
Always get someone to proof-read your blog before you post it! This is crucial as it might make sense to you, but you need to make sure that it does to others too, and also that it is grammatically correct
Think of a blog as an internal monologue. Tell your audience how you’ve been feeling, if anything has sparked your interest or what you think they need to know about your industry
You don’t have to blog every week. Start off blogging once a month and if you feel like you have more to talk about, then increase it from there. Remember to let people know that you have posted a new blog by referring to it on social media though – this is essential!!
And if you are really struggling, hire someone that can write your blogs for you!
If you’re going to take one thing away from this blog, let it be that blogging doesn’t have to be difficult. Write about what you feel passionate or knowledgeable about, and the rest will flow.

Most importantly: Have fun!
Blogging can be extremely rewarding and a nice break from everyday life.
